  • My Day

Shelley told about her day, here's an example of mine:

A Day off:  Did not sleep real well, just dozed mostly.  Woke up to tell Rhiannon good-by beforeshe left for school.  She comes in and tells me her teacher has the flu and she's going back to bed.  I'm sleeping so hard 3 hours later that I can hardly even talk when she wakes me up to say bye.  I got up about 11 to get a shower and go pick up Rainey from school.  We had a tea party outside using my good china.  We had cheese toast and dry cereal (her choices).  And she talked non-stop.  Always said "Nana" before everything!  We had a lot of fun.  Rhiannon called when she got out of school and Rainey talked to her.  She got her Barbies and played while I sat in the swing, still talking non-stop.  When Rhiannon got home we visited with her awhile.  Then Rainey lay down in my room to watch the movie Santa Claus and take a nap.

I went to get Colton from school.  Rhiannon and Rainey were both napping, so I took Colton home and we got Shelley and Evan and went to her Dr.'s appt.  Saw an Ultrasound of the new baby (It looks just like me!).  Went to Subway for supper, then to Toys RUS to look at toys, then home.  We dropped off Rhiannon's food, picked up Rainey and went to Shelley's.  Colton read to me - he's getting pretty good!  Then I made Rainey mad (I tapped on her tummy to make her stop hitting on Evan).  She was still mad at me when she went to bed, but she still wants me to pick her up tomorrow.  When I got home Rhiannon and I watched TV and chatted.  Then we shared some freshly made Brownies while we watched TV and visited.  Then it was bedtime, or should I say, computer time and then bedtime.

I can't really say it was a boring day, but nothing (except for seeing the baby) really exciting happened.  Even so, LIFE IS GOOD!!!  I wouldn't trade mine for anyone's!  Love you all.       Christie

  • Today we took Rainey to the Health Dept. to get her shots before school.  She wanted her Nana to go with her.  She sat on my lap and DID NOT EVEN FLINCH!!  She held perfectly still.  She got 4 shots, 2 in each arm!  She teared up with the 2nd shot in each arm - they hurt!!!  But she didn't even try to pull away.  I was very impressed.  I have never seen a child stay so still.  We are very proud of her.

We took Rhiannon to PRC to register today.  She is not sure she wants to move away from home and go to Meridian.  She has to go back Friday to finish registration.  I will know where she is going when I have to pay for it!!  She also put in some job applications.  Some she has to do on-line, and they will call her for a interview.  Times sure have changed since I had to appy for a job!

  • School has started!!  My baby is a senior now and will soon be 18 ! (as she is constantly reminding me)  For some reason she thinks this is a magic age, as if life as she knows it will change forever.  There are only a few real changes that may make a difference to her:  1.  She can vote, 2.  She can buy cigarettes, 3.  She doesn't have to get her Driver's License renewed every 6 months, 4.  She is not subject to the town curfew.  Things that don't change:  1. As long as she lives with me she is subject to my rules,  and my rules are fairly simple and easy to follow  2.  Yes, she can move out, but she has to leave her car, her cell phone, and her check card with me and she'll have to pay her own way with her money - not mine.   I obviously won't make leaving me easy!!

I'm very proud of Rhiannon.  She is very smart and very loving, and of course she is gorgeous!  She only has to go to school until 12:00.  She is looking for a job.  She is planning to take her ACT soon and is looking into going to PRCC to study Occupational Therapy.

Talking about school, my oldest grand-baby is now going to Kindergarten.  He loves it!!  He doesn't get into trouble very much and is very proud of all the work he does.  I can't wait for him to start reading to me!

  • You'll never guess what I did today.  I became a "hip" mom.  For the first time in my life I visited a tatoo parlor!  No, I did not get a tatoo, though my kids want me to, I allowed Rhiannon to get a belly-button ring.  I had to be present and sign a consent.  I figured she was going to get one anyway (the day she turned 18) and this way I could make sure she got it done right, by someone experienced.  We checked it out and he was very careful and gentle and CLEAN!!  She was cleaned with betadine and new sterile instruments were used.  She did not even yell!  It looks good, too, but then she has a cute tummy.

How do you feel about tatoos and such?
